Putty Rubber / Eraser
Putty Rubber can shaped into a point for creating fine highlights and is not so harsh on the surface of the paper as the plastic style of Eraser.
Stump / Tallon
This is a cone shaped roll of paper or compressed paper fibre in the shape of a stick, which is used to blend / burnish pencil, charcoal or pastels into a smooth texture similar to using your finger. You can also create artworks by applying graphite powder to the end of the stump and gently burnishing the paper.
Knife / Sharpener / Sandpaper
You must always keep your pencil as sharp as possible at all times, you will have more control and crisp defined lines. You should keep a small piece of sandpaper to reshape the point and if possible use a knife as instead of a sharpener as this creates a longer point.
